Malcolm Saville wrote around 90 books.  He is best remembered for his Lone Pine stories but he wrote many other adventure books for children as well as books on nature and the English countryside.

His stories were usually set in real locations which in the foreword to many of his books, he would encourage the reader 'to explore for themselves'.
