The Luck of Sallowby

Synopsis

The Jillions did not check the weather forecast before going to the village of Sallowby just outside Ely.

This story recalls Hereward the Wake and his resistance to the Norman invasion. More immediately the Fens are invaded by flooding. The story accurately portrays the storms of 1947. The illustrations are based on photographs taken during the resulting Great Fen Floods.
